Global Outlook in the Post-COVID Era
Coordinated global and national policy strategies for rebuilding social and economic systems in a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable manner are more important than ever. This session will explore how policymakers and business leaders across LAC and Korea can boost knowledge exchange and cooperation to achieve growth through a digital economy and climate change lens in the current global context.
Panel Keynote Presentation:
Strengthening Value Chains to Boost Korea – LAC Trade
The past decade ushered in a reconfiguration of the global and regional value chains that gained momentum in the wake of severe disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, a call for more integrated, secure, and resilient supply chains has echoed around the globe, leading to a renewed impetus to strengthen regional value chains. This panel will explore the opportunities that this new scenario offers to bolster bilateral trade and investment between Korea and Latin America and the Caribbean.
Confronting Climate Change: Coordinated Response to the Crisis
The impact and response to climate change is an urgent, critical, and global matter. As such, sustainable growth must be prioritized by pursuing specific and feasible strategies to transition to a carbon neutral society. Korea is a leading global example of what a proactive, integral national approach looks like. This session will explore the Korean experience in transitioning to a green economy and will discuss the roles of both the public and private sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean and Korea to identify cooperation opportunities to counter climate change.
Embracing Digital Transformation: Strategy for Going Digital
Prior to the pandemic, a paradigm shift towards digitalization of the economy was underway. Two years later, not only has COVID-19 accelerated digital transformation, but it has bridged the gaps created by mandated shutdowns and social distancing measures. While the challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) governments are heterogeneous, there is much that Korea can share with the region to support its journey towards digital transformation based on its own experience implementing Korea’s Digitalization. This session will highlight Korean best practices and recommendations for LAC countries to help them fully capitalize on their digital infrastructures.
